Shame on us.

Here are some updates:

We are having a new baby boy/girl in December. Jennie has heard the heartbeat a few times, and everything is going good so far. We'll find out the sex in a few weeks.

Mackenzie is talking a lot more now. Today she asked me "Did you have a good day?" when I came in from work. (I always ask her if she had a good day.)

Mackenzie is also potty training. She does very well, but we are sometimes inconsistent with her because of our busy schedules. If it were not for her busy parents, she would have been done with diapers months ago probably.

My grandmother fell and broke her jaw. She is not doing well. They awarded me a framed certificate and an engraved pen for working here for 5 years now. It was nice to be recognized. One nice lady said it was really 35 years, because they're "dog years." Why aren't you excited now (if your not).

What are you waiting for?

It took a lot of effort to explain that last question, mostly because I'm not super articulate. What I mean is, are you waiting for something to happen to you or for you? Are you living in the moment, seizing every opportunity, seeing God in action in your life right now, at this very moment? Or are you waiting for that new baby to come, that new job, new house, more money, more time, better health, etc.?

I really wonder how many of us just feel like we're in limbo and failing to see the opportunities in front of us because we're waiting for... whatever it is we're waiting for.

Of course, I could be wrong... someday I'll be more knowledgeable of spiritual things and the Bible and can answer this question myself. :-)

Disney World

 IMG_3864
Originally uploaded by Tim Morgan
As many of you know, we traveled to Orlando, Florida last week and experienced Disney World. We woke to a cold house and the realization that our baby monitor was no longer transmitting the sound of our precious sleeping daughter. She was fine of course, and I shouldn't worry so much anyway, since she has a set of lungs on her that could wake the dead (she's going to be a singer like her momma someday, you know).

The storm is blamed for the deaths of something like 18 people in Oklahoma and Missouri. On my way to work yesterday, I saw a car sitting on the side of the road. Upside down. It didn't look like anyone was hurt, and an ambulance crew was there to make sure.

Oklahoma drivers are known for being absolutely stupid in icy road conditions, so I was surprised to see that most people were driving cautiously and even being sure to stop at powerless traffic signals.

We got our power back yesterday evening, but our phones are still out and consequently our beloved Internet access (I am writing this from an undisclosed, secret location :-).

Thank you, God, for protecting our family and friends during this storm. Jennie and I had hoped to deliver some good news in the later half of 2005 regarding a new little addition to the family, but God's timing was a bit different than ours. Not that such news would really help with the hurting that much, but it might have been nice to (at least for us) think of the time more as a transition, as in God gives and he takes away. Along with death can come life, and the fact that my dad chose to follow Christ in baptism in his last months underscores the theme of new life. Dad has new life now.

But he didn't get to know about Mackenzie before he went on.

I don't have a clue what heaven will be like. I imagine earthly things are mostly meaningless once a person is with the Creator of the Universe, but I like to think that he knows about Mac and our small family and the choices we make every day.

I think every son desires the approval of his father. I know he was proud. I hope he knows I am proud of him, too.

On December 29, it will have been two years.

I miss him.

Jennie and I put together a simple video for his memorial service back in January 2006. I ran across a low-quality wmv video file on my server yesterday in doing some clean-up and was reminded of the stack of DVDs we made for the family. Here is a rip from one of those DVDs, if you're interested:

Thomas Wesley Morgan from Tim Morgan on Vimeo.

Yay, Ron Paul!

 Yay, Ron Paul!
Originally uploaded by georgeloring
I emailed our friend George in Arkansas to ask if he was supporting Mike Huckabee for president since he was a fellow Arkansasyer. I was surprised to get a response that said No, George is supporting Dr. Ron Paul, quite literally, and provided some proof. Ha!

I believe this was Monday, the day Paul raised 4.2 million in 24 hours, breaking most if not all the records. We're currently sitting at 7.7 million.

Most of you will say so what, rich people give money and that means nothing of a candidate's support. Campaign finance law sets the maximum contribution per person at $2300, which means if Bill Gates decides to support a candidate, he can only give the person $2300. The cool thing about Ron Paul's campaign bonanza on Monday was that it was from over 37,000 donors, which means the average donation was just over 100 bucks per person.
